Poppy Growing

We had to find the reason why poppies are sold on ANZAC Day. The red of the poppies is for the blood and the black is for the grief we feel because of the men and women who perished in the wars. The poppy is a symbol of remembrance. The poppies were found on Flanders Field in Belgium.

When we found out the true meaning of poppies we got to design our own pots and we used expanding soil to plant our seeds in. We will have to water them and give them sunlight so that they grow into poppy plants.

I did a tour of the Somme area of France from the first world war.
    A very moving experience.
