Finding out what the "plural rules" are.

Rm 22 have been learning the plural rules. Mrs Legarth asked
us to present our findings in an exciting way. I did a stickman comic

but there were also vibrant posters, epic videos, tuneful songs,
hilarious plays and even some breath-taking combinations!

'I am original' art

Room 22 have been learning about character traits. For art we have made posters about our character traits. First we made five squiggly lines across the page then we wrote 'I am original'. Then on the next 4 spaces we wrote some of our character traits then on the bottom line we wrote I am and then what our name was. We coloured our posters in in bright colours and we also learnt a little bit about the colour wheel. Mrs Cawood helped us with this work.

Our Autobiographies

Recently in Room 22 we have been doing autobiographies for writing. We were inspired by Roald Dahl's book; Boy, Tales of Childhood. He said autobiographies are often full of boring facts and details about a person. Not ours!

Over a period of three weeks we planned, drafted, edited and then published on book creator as part of our inquiry; What Makes Me, Me?

Our class goals

Our class goals this term are to collaborate
with people in groups and respect people.
We have used the word respect in our koru
art on the wall in our cloak bay.Our class
has also tried to focus really well on how we
collaborate in groups. This is a photo of our
poster that shows the word respect and
collaborate in it.

Peco Incident

We are reading The Peco Incident by Des Hunt.
It is about two boys called Daniel and Nick. The scene is set in the Otago Peninsula. Daniel is smart and aware of his surroundings and consequences meanwhile Nick is well... Nick, he is quite silly but a very hilarious person. Peco ( Peninsula Egg Company ) Peco have lots of chooks and they are battery farmers and the chickens don't lay free range eggs, the chooks are dying and Nick thinks it's an alien killer virus from outer space!
We haven't read the entire book but we would rate it a ten out of ten because it's a funny but an interesting novel for ages seven to twelve.

Statistical investigation

This term we've been doing statistics for maths. What better way to learn them, then to use them to improve the school.

To start off we came up with a problem. Votes showed that the majority of the class wanted to create more activities for the shade areas. We got into groups and together we tried to figure out solutions to solve the problem.

The class made a questionnaire that we gave to the seniors. The votes came in and were put on paper. Here are the top five:
A tree hut
A roof over the astro turf
Sails over the senior playground
A bubble machine under the sails
Sails over the fitness trail
The least loved idea was to paint lines for paper plane racing.

We borrowed the COWs (Computers On Wheels) and created a series of different graphs using Excel to display the results. To finish off we wrote letters to Mr Bain with the suggestions. We certainly learned a lot about statistics with the graphs. We discovered which graphs are best for displaying different data.
