Our Special Storyteller

Room 22 were very lucky to have Mr Sherratt, Ella's dad, come in to tell us the story of Bad Jelly and the sequel he wrote, Mad Elly.

He stood up in front of Room 22 and 21 and acted out Bad Jelly. He used different voices for each different character and used actions and gestures to help us get a better image.

Then he sat down and Room 21 left so we could enjoy the story of Mad Elly, his own creation. We loved it and it inspired us to write our own sequels. We can't wait to see a third story. Thank you Mr Sherratt!!

Fitness

Last week Tom was our first Room 22 Fitness Instructor. We were very impressed with the tasks he set us. He covered upper body, lower body (legs), core, aerobic and on Friday he covered a 'mix of all'.
He introduced some new exercises and explained them well.
This week Luka has taken the challenge of being our Fitness Instructor. Thank you Luka for being well prepared.

Mime

This term room the senior school is learning about The Arts, drama, visual art, dance and music. For drama, we learned about mime. We searched for mime basics and watched some videos. We learned to drink, eat soup, walk on the spot, and trapped in a box. We had a lot of fun, and learned heaps.
Check out the mime hints on Mime Basics on you tube.

This is the lady from the videos that we watched.
By Holly and Ella.
As a conclusion to learning about Jeff Thompson Room 22 have made there own corrugated artwork using corrugated cardboard.
We enjoyed researching Jeff Thompson and going on a trip to the Hastings Art Gallery to see an exhibition of his.

Welcome Back.

I hope you all had lovely holidays. I know many of you found time to read a good book. I can't wait to hear your latest recommendations! Term Two is looking to be a very busy and exciting term. Our Inquiry unit is called "Expressing Ourselves Through The Arts". This will be lots of fun I'm sure. We are also extremely fortunate to be working with the Dept of Conservation on a Marine Conservation programme and a note will be going home to parents this week about this. As well as that we have hockey lessons and swimming lessons later in the term as well. What an exciting term ahead.
