I Am, We Are

This is the end result from an inquiry about the diversity of cultures that make up our classes, and the art that represents those cultures. Room 21 and 22 are very proud of their end result!

MOVE IT TERM 4!

Come on Te Mata school, let's get moving.

Our goal is to “find environmentally friendly ways to get to school”.

For the first four weeks in Term 4 we need you to walk, run, cycle, skateboard or any do any type exercise to get to school...it still counts if you even do these after getting off the bus!

Ask your adult to drop you off on one of the safe routes on the map below so you can join in.

Once you get to school - see our School Councillors to click your ticket!

For every five days you get moving... you could win an amazing prize in our draw. The more you move… The more you could win.

Get ready to MOVE IT from day one of Term Four.

So, what are you waiting for Te Mata ?

Let's get moving.

Our Inquiry

For our inquiry we have been learning about all the different cultures of people in our classroom and their cultures arts. Then we made a poster of all the different arts. Here is a photo of one of the finished ones.
We have also done our own inquiry about our own cultures. We are going to be presenting everything that we have learnt on Friday at the Expo Morning.

And the Winner is...

We entered a writing competition to celebrate the new book 'The 78-Storey Treehouse'. We had to write, in 200 words or less, a story based on The 78- Storey Treehouse and Jaspreet Chamber was one of the winners! Yay for Jaspreet!

More Calendar Art

Calendar Art

Yesterday Room 21 and 22 did our calendar art. Our design was from Andy Warhol who was an American artist who lived from 1930 until 1987. Here are some photos of us working on our art. You will have to come in and see them on our wall next week so that you will be able to fill out your order form , when it comes.
.... We look forward to seeing these printed on our mouse pads or cards or calendars!

Procedural Writing

These past few weeks we have been learning about procedural writing. We even made a help sheet to remind us how to write a procedural text. As we wanted to write our own text, Mrs Legarth and Mrs Tomlinson made us do a procedural text on what we made at HNI. Here is a photo of a help sheet.

Fun Run Friday

6/9/2016
Smiles, laughs and a bit of sport on Friday!
My legs flew through the air swiftly landing with both feet on the ground. I bit my lip as I hurried over to the hurdles.
I breathed heavily as I stared at the hurdles. They were huge, as tall as a horse. I soon sighed a breath of relief as I realised we went under them.

"Yay! A maze!" I yelled happily as I hurried over to the bright plastic walls. I weaved my way in & out through the castle of plastic till I got to the bridge.

HNI Technology Taster Sessions

Last week we went to HNI and tried some technology activities. Thank you to the Intermediate for our chance to experience fun learning.
Hi Again! Where has this term gone? I know the class did some amazing learning with Ms Kaye while I was away in the first weeks. She was super impressed with our delightful children and how well they all worked. I had a wonderful time in the Baltic states and was a very proud mum watching Hamish and Elise competing at Junior World Champs in Belarus. A huge thank you for your many kind thoughts and support when my Dad sadly passed away the day after our return to NZ. Then we had the gastro bug hit our community. I hope your families are recovered now. What a few weeks! So now we will catch up on our blog and share some of our learning and celebrations.
