Today we visited the Pekapeka wetlands to film a documentary. We had several planning sessions and now after filming, need to edit and make our documentary.

Thank you to Mrs Chatfield for organising this.

First Aid

We learnt basic first aid with Lia from Red Cross.
We learnt about putting slings on people when they have a broken arm and what to do when some one has a really bad bleeding arm. Also we learnt not to pull a knife out of your body if you have been stabbed because you can loose to much of your blood. We learnt what to do when some is unconscious as well. We learnt that DRSABC is the way to approach someone needing First Aid.

Learning about capacity

We had to estimate pouring 300 mls into a container. We had to call on our maths skills to be as accurate as we could. Upinder made lots of connections between fractions and numbers and was very close.
Try this at home.

Telling the Time.

Custom Myspace Clock
Being able to tell the time on both an analogue and a digital clock or watch is important. Have a practise here if you aren't sure. Ask somebody at home to help you if you need it.

Word Wall

We have a Word Wall. We add interesting words to it once we have found out their meaning. Then our task is to find the word somewhere else and then to use it ourselves in our writing or our speech. Some of this week's words... thrifty frugal spendthrift squander extravagant

Lucky Us!

For three weeks we are very lucky to have Mr Wedd in our class. He has taken Red Group for Reading and Cubes for Maths. Thank you Mr Wedd for our learning!

Maths Song

Last term we watched and sang this song to help us understand area and perimeter in MAths. See if you like it and whether it helps you with your maths.

Written Language Term Three

This term we are using an app on the I pad to motivate and inspire us to write well. Our first piece of writing was describing our first wander through Epic Citadel. The writing was fantastic! much too good to leave in our draft books, so we had to publish them so we can share. In this writing we tried to use accurate descriptions, similes, metaphors and some alliteration if possible. Well done Room 22. Amazing!
